About Us

Auding: the practice of listening, recognizing, and interpreting spoken language.

What we do

This is the first step for anyone learning a new language. Based on this definition, created in 1975 at the opening of the company, we started our journey of more than 46 years in language teaching. Our history begins when the founder, Marli Martins, that at the time was an English and German teacher who decided to follow her dream. After realizing a great increase of students who needed to learn a second language for work purposes, Marli made the decision to leave the old classroom approach offered by conventional language courses, and move into the corporate world, developing a unique methodology.

Telling us this story, she remembers that her old car was her first ‘mobile office’ in which she drove all over Rio de Janeiro giving classes to young entrepreneurs and executives from small to large companies. It was not long before she opened her first school, a vibrant cultural center in a three-story house at Tijuca (Rio de Janeiro). More than language training, Auding Idiomas offered cultural and networking activities out of the classroom: happy hours, vernissages, jazz nights and theater performances. Marli started the “Immersion” program, with Serpro as its first client and later Robert Borsch, Unisys, Roche, Petrobrás and hundreds of other companies.

We are proud of this successful journey of decades, and our team believes that it is important to keep tradition, but constant innovation on our courses and practices is essential. Our customers range from small to large companies and students who have no time to waste and who are tired of ineffective teaching methods. Come visit us at Barra da Tijuca and learn more about our courses!

Auding

“A teaching that escapes from the old and ineffective traditional methodology and that meets the purposes of each student with precision and short-term results is fundamental.”

How we do it

Communicative Methodology

Based on our mission, vision and values, we base our teaching philosophy on the determination to make our students proficient and confident in the language.

This philosophy is based on the Communicative Approach (Natural Assimilation), which states that the learner should be exposed to real-life communicative situations that usually happens in which real-life contexts – both personal and professional – the foreign language is used. Such contexts require the development of listening comprehension, verbal expression, written comprehension and written expression.

Therefore, our methodology advocates the use of classroom activities that dialogue with real language uses and needs, i.e., bringing real life into the teaching-learning environment. This is facilitated by a Needs Assessment of each student, and by the use of human, didactic, and technological resources that facilitate the student’s interaction with other speakers and mediate the development of all communicative competence dimensions – grammatical, sociolinguistic, discursive, and pragmatic competence.

Language Assessment and Learning Style

The placement tests are designed to measure language knowledge in the following skills: Listening Comprehension, Grammar in Speech, Writing, Reading, Pronunciation, Vocabulary, Fluency and Adequacy. The evaluation process consists of two steps: The first, to be completed through the site, involves multiple choice questions and a writing essay. In the second stage, comprehension and oral expression are evaluated by one of our teachers. Select the language of interest below and start the first stage of our test right away! Afterwards, we will contact you to schedule the speaking test.

Where we do

At School
Auding branch is located in Barra da Tijuca, and offers comfort, infra-structure and fast support for those who seek focused and uninterrupted learning. We have spaces for individual and group classes and for study, besides allowing free access to our library and online materials.

In Company
The corporate world has no boundaries, speaks several languages, works irregular hours, and tirelessly. Recognizing such difficulties of the work routine, Auding meets the needs of professionals and companies, with classes that stand out by customizing programs, dates and study time. Our Corporate Management is available to visit the company’s HR to understand more about the needs of each student.

At Home

We know that the day-to-day routine can make it difficult for students to take classes at our branch or in their company. Thinking about this, Auding also provides its methodology to the student’s home, in order to prevent delays or cancellations. It is important that the student has an appropriate space for learning and that it does not offer distractions that could compromise the rhythm and quality of the classes.

Online

Our online training programs have been restructured and offer the same quality as in-person classes, with an access platform enriched with useful tools that facilitate the learning process. If you want to combine flexibility and convenience (without losing quality), online classes are the perfect option for you.

Hybrid

The COVID-19 scenario has intensified the demand for hybrid teaching (or blended learning), which is here to stay. This practice promotes a mix between face-to-face and online teaching, optimizing student time and performance, making classes more dynamic.
